The article provides data on the cultivation of barley in the conditions of Karakalpakstan, the characteristics of the varieties of spring barley. The biological and ecological c haracteristics of the Vakula variety have been studied. The variety is distinguished by its early maturity. It is resistant to various diseases and soil and climatic conditions. The grain is large, the amount of protein is low, therefore it is used in brewing.
