The article describes the calculation of bearing length, radial clearance, and
friction coefficient values. The flow of oil to and from the bearing and the increase in oil
temperature as it passes through the bearing. A suitable combination of bearing length and
radial clearance is determined. Also determined are the appropriate values for the coefficient of
friction, the power loss due to friction, the flow of oil to and from the bearing, and the increase in
oil temperature as it passes through the bearing. A suitable combination of bearing length and

loss, oil flow rate fed to and flowing away from the bearing, and oil temperature rise. Oil
viscosity, clearance coefficients and the corresponding tolerance range for radial clearance are
given. The operation of the radial clearance range checked was shown using the equation,
rational accurate answers are presented.
