turli substratlarni oksidlanish jarayonida dengiz cho'chqalarining jigarrang yog to’qima mitoxondriyalarining nafas olish va fosforillovchi faolligi o'rganildi. Piruvat + malat oksidlanib, ATP sintezi bilan bog'liqligi, ammo V4 da yuqori nafas olish ega ekanligi ko'rsatildi; suksinat oksidlanishida V4 yuqori darajasi kuzatiladi. NADH ning oksidlanishi mutlaqo biriktirilmagan tarzda sodir bo’ladi, chunki oksidlanish jarayoni ADP qo’shilishiga yoki ajratuvchiga javob bermaydi. Olingan ma'lumotlar ushbu to’qimaning mitoxondriyalarida intensiv bog’lanmagan nafas olishning ishlashini ko'rsatadi. Nafas olish energiyasini issiqlikka aylantirishi mumkin, chunki jigarrang yog'ning asosiy vazifasi issiqlik ishlab chiqarishdir.
