The article studies the names of settlements of Muynak district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the role of local geographical terms in their emergence. The names of settlements with local geographical terms are classified. It is also indicated that the names of settlements are written in the Karakalpak Cyrillic and Latin alphabets and in the Uzbek Cyrillic and Latin alphabets. These data can serve as an additional guide in the correct spelling of geographical names in the mapping of the oikonymic map of Muynak district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
