It has long been recognized that original materials are useful for learners in learning English as a foreign language. The reason is that they clearly do not experience real life in class. That is, in many definitions used by many teachers in selected teaching resources, authentic materials are described as "names of native speakers". The purpose of this article is to review the definition of authentic materials, meaning that authentic materials are not only "native speakers", but also the growing number of "native speakers" of English, whose often authentic words due to its use of zs. words in everyday life count. Also, authentic materials can be ideally used in secondary schools to develop authentic communication and English writing skills among English language users
