quote
This article tackles the important need for integrating Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) criteria into traditional methodological frameworks for the innovations in digital banking, specifically in relation to the Uzbekistan context. With the growing global tendencies for sustainable finance and digital transformation, the Uzbek banking system stands at a crossroads facing to some extent the dual challenges of effective integration of the ESG principles into their operating models and adopting innovative digital solutions for banking. Using a systematic literature review, the research highlights theoretical and practical gaps in ESG integration approaches for digital banking in developing economies. Using a mixed-method approach of quantitative econometric methods alongside qualitative expert interviews, the study examines the current stage and efficacy of digital banking initiatives in Uzbekistan. In addition, empirical results highlight strong linkages between ESG adherence and positive performance indicators, both in terms of financial and operational performance of digitalized banking entities.
