The article is devoted to studying the nature of the debut of the disease as an early predictor of the prognosis of patients with recurrent schizophrenia. We examined 188 patients (86 men and 102 women) with recurrent schizophrenia with a disease duration of over 15 years, registered in the Andijan Regional Neuropsychiatric Dispensary. The bulk of the examined were people over 40 years old. The study was conducted by the clinical and epidemiological method. The criteria for assessing the condition of patients were the levels of social and labor adaptation at the remote stages of the disease and the severity of negative symptoms. The results of the investigation have allowed to determine that acute debut of the disease at the age of older than 20 years have been favourable factors of social – labour prognosis for patients with paroxysmal schizophrenia . On the contrary , early beginning of the disease with the initial impairments at the age up to 20 years, play a role of unfavourable factors, worsening the prognosis during the progress of the disease.
