ESTIMATION OF THE EFFICIENCY OF THERAPEUTIC PADS BASED ON CALCIUM HYDROXIDE IN THE TREATMENT OF DEEP CARIES IN CHILDREN

To assess the effects of calcium hydroxide preparations, 85 schoolchildren aged from 6 to 15 years were examined. Hydroxide containing preparations, in the treatment of deep caries of permanent teeth, have anti-inflammatory and odontotropic effects, stimulate the reparative function of the tooth pulp, and have a pronounced alkaline environment. During the study, a significant decrease in the electrical excitability of the pulp after the treatment of deep caries with the use of therapeutic pads based on calcium hydroxide was noted. In relation to the background indicators, the value of the pulp's electrical excitability decreased by 58.3% in 1 year, becoming, on average, 6.6 + 0.5 μA, reaching a value characteristic of average caries in formed teeth. This indicates the rehabilitation of the pulp in the course of the treatment.
