All chest deformities are divided into two groups: congenital and acquired. Among congenital deformities of the chest, 90% are funnel-shaped and 8% are keeled. Poland's syndrome, congenital cleft sternum and isolated deformities of the ribs are observed in 2% of cases. Acquired chest deformities include all deformities of the ribs and sternum that have arisen after surgery, trauma and inflammation. Keel-shaped deformity of the chest (CDC) is a developmental defect that manifests itself in a different depth and shape for the fall of the sternum and anterior parts of the ribs, a violation of the anatomical relationships in the sternocostal complex (HRC).
