As a result of the activation of proteolysis in the body, membrane-active endogenous toxins are formed in a significant amount - the so-called medium molecular peptides (SMP). They destroy the blood corpuscles with the subsequent release of coagulation activators, leading to the development of disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC syndrome).
