The mechanical jaundice in cholelithiasis occurs from 10.5 to 79.8% of ca-ses. Choledocholithiasis is the most common cause of obstructive jaundice: from 48.8 to 9.1. The main cause of death of patients with mechanical jaundice is the progression of hepatic insuffi-ciency after performing surgical intervention on the biliary tract, especially in the elderly with prolonged existing jaundice.
