In the article, Karl Reichl is one of the well-known turkologists who widely used the scientific works of Uzbek folklorists and gave a wide response to them in English and German in his research, his work as a translator and researcher of Uzbek folklore, his translations in German and English, and the creation of the essence, content, and structure of scientific researches were discussed. The scientist's clear and interesting information, which vividly expresses the similarities and differences between the examples of the oral creativity of the Turkic peoples, is presented based on a comparative analysis. The foundations and methods of the comparative approach to Uzbek folklore in world folklore studies were determined by the example of Karl Reichl's translation and research in English. Some comments of the German scientist Karl Reichl regarding the emergence and development of the epic text and written literature are presented. The theoretical conclusions reached by the scientist regarding the scientific research of folklore and written literature are discussed. From the second half of the last century, a new stage in the translation of Uzbek folklore samples into European languages began. This renewal process is directly related to the name Karl Reich. Although the well-known German scholar Karl Reichl is a skilled translator of Uzbek epics, some of the shortcomings he made in the translation of the epic "Alpamish" and their reasons are analyzed.
