This article explores a pressing issue in linguistics: the process of transforming proper names into common nouns, or deonymization. The article presents the theoretical foundations of the deonymization phenomenon and analyzes the various and common features of the terms eponymy, appellativization and deonymization. The study highlights the semantic and grammatical mechanisms and the formation of eponyms through metonymy and generalization. The article also examines the role and significance of deonyms in the vocabulary of the Uzbek language.
