ARTICLE ANNOTATION

quote
This study presents a statistical assessment of the intra-annual precipitation regime over Uzbekistan using ERA5-Land reanalysis data and observations from 77 meteorological stations for the period 2005-2024. Daily precipitation data were aggregated into monthly totals, and a system of normalized relative coefficients combined with the cumulative distribution function (CDF) was applied to characterize intra-annual distribution features. The results demonstrate that the integral annual index reliably quantifies the degree of precipitation concentration or dispersion within a year. Lower index values correspond to precipitation concentrated within a few months, whereas higher values indicate a more evenly distributed and relatively stable regime. A comparison of CDFs derived from ground observations and ERA5-Land data shows that the reanalysis reproduces the general intra-annual distribution tendencies; however, certain discrepancies remain due to spatial-temporal smoothing effects and the influence of orographic and local convective processes.
