This article provides an in-depth analysis of the transformation in demand for foreign languages, particularly Arabic, in the context of the socio-economic reforms being implemented under the «New Uzbekistan» strategy. It substantiates that the expansion of Uzbekistan’s geo-economic and cultural-humanitarian ties with the Arab world establishes new objectives for the language education system. The article reveals the inadequacy of the traditional approach in training Arabic language teachers to meet modern requirements, as well as the existing contradictions. As a solution, a comprehensive competency-based model for future specialists is proposed, which includes philological, pedagogical-psychological, intercultural communication, innovative-creative competencies, and practical translation skills. Strategic recommendations for the practical implementation of this model are put forward.
