The article presents data on the humus state of the soils of the Zaravshan valley and its changes under the influence of natural and anthropogenic factors. In the mountainous and foothill zones of the Zaravshan Valley, the content, supply and quality of humus is higher than in the desert zone. The humus state of the soil depends on the mechanical composition of the soil, the terrain, the salinity of the soil, the content of sodium cation in the soil absorbing complex, and the crops being cultivated.
