TRANSLATION OF SOME ENGLISH IDIOMS RELATED TO ANIMALS FROM INTERCULTURAL PERSPECTIVE

A language is a reflection of the culture. Idioms containing rich cultural connotations are the essence and treasure of language. This article focuses on the translation of English idioms with animal components from the cultural perspective and deals with comparison in cultural connotations of animal images in both Uzbek and English languages. By basing on the comparison, two translation strategies are applied including: literal translation, substitution.
