ФОРМИРОВАНИЕ ФИЛОСОФСКИХ И ИСТОРИЧЕСКИХ ВЗГЛЯДОВ СТЕНДАЛЯ

The Grenoble Central School played a positive role in shaping the philosophi-cal worldview of Stendhal, which aspired to educate honest patriots, thinking people. Undoub-tedly Stendhal’s first teacher, a real teacher, was J.J.Rousseau, whose works he read in his childhood. Despite the fact that Rousseau wrote much less philosophical and literary works than Voltaire and Montesquieu, he had an enormous influence on his contemporaries. A completely new and original feature of J.J.Rousseau was overestimation the role of feeling – in life, in edu-cation, in art and in cognition, which Stendhal will develop in his work in the future, including historical ones.
