The article provides some information about the crisis in historiography in the twentieth century, new paradigms, principles and changes in the methods of cognition, which occurred along with the change in the social status of historical science. At the same time, opinions on the revolution in the methodology of history, made by the French scholar Fevre Lusant, the comparative approach of Mark Bloc and the place of other humanities in historical science are cited.
