STUDY OF HARMLESS AND HEMOSTATIC ACTIVITY OF GEL «GEMOSTAT»

The acute toxicity, irritant, allergenic and hemostatic effect of the gel «Gemostat» recommended as a hemostatic agent of plant origin were studied. The study of acute toxicity was carried according to the conventional method on white outbred mice (of both sexes). The study of irritant action carried according to the conventional method on intact albino rabbits by the method of conjunctivas testing. Allergy effect carried by the method of conjunctivas testing on sensitized animals. The study of hemostatic activity carried on the model of parenchymal bleeding of the liver. As a result found, that there is no toxicity of the «Gemostat» gel in the dose range of 250-1250 mg/kg, therefore LD50 >1250 mg/kg assumed. The obtained results showed also the absence of local irritant and allergenic effects in the gel. The study of hemostatic activity showed the presence of reliable hemostatic activity of the preparation in the form of gel and it established that the gel form slightly higher than the form of the liquid extract, in terms of hemostatic activity. Based on the obtained data it can concluded that «Gemostat» gel is of high safety and reliable hemostatic activity.
