For many years, resection of thickened myocardial wall has been a main treatment strategy for obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Surgery is considered traumatic, requires long-term rehabilitation and shows high level of lethality. Alcohol reduction of hypertrophic myocardium is safe and less invasive alternative of conventional operation.
