Background. At JSC Navoiazot in the production of formaldehyde from methanol, with an output of 95-99%, an imported iron-molybdenum catalyst (IMC) is applied, with an atomic ratio of molybdenum and iron in oxides 2.5:1.7. Localization of the technology of its production is an urgent need of the industry. Purpose: Preparation and testing in lab of samples of iron-molybdenum catalyst for synthesis formaldehyde from methanol. Tasks: 1) synthesis of samples of IMC in various ways; 2) laboratory studies of the samples of IMC, their transfer for the testing of catalytic activity in the JSC "Navoiazot", 3) development of the technological map of industrial synthesis of IMC from local raw materials. Methodology. Samples of Fe-Mo (1); Fe-Mo-Cr (2) and Fe-Mo-Ca (3) have been synthesized by the methods described in a number of patents. Elemental analysis of them was performed on Perkin-Elmer 3030B, Aligent 7500 IСP MS spectrometers. Laboratory thermostat, pH meter EV-74 were applied. Originality. Based on well-known patents, a number of IMC samples have been synthesized. Differences in the methodology of their synthesis, from patent requirements, consisted of the use of local raw materials, temperature and time regimes. The activity of catalysts is evaluated during the testing at JSC "Navoiazot". Findings. The mechanical strength, the chemical composition and the catalytic activity of synthesized IMCs. Highlights: - an iron-molybdenum catalyst was synthesized from an aqueous suspension; - an iron-molybdenum catalyst containing chromium was synthesized; - an iron-molybdenum catalyst containing calcium was synthesized.
