Background. Presently, the problem of pollution of the environment becomes significant all over the world. The need for both the discharge of wastewater and the solution of the problem of their reuse, connected with the deficit of fresh water in Republic, stipulates the requirements to applied dsorbents. Thus, the development of new types of treatment on the basis of local raw materials, as well as the development of local adsorbents, reagents and their use is one of the actual problem for the purification of industrial wastewater. Purpose. Obtaining new carbon adsorbents on the bases of local raw materials while studying influence of temperature of thermal pyrolysis and degree of grinding on porosity of the resulting adsorbents. Methodology. Porosity of adsorbents thermal pyrolysis was carried out at 400°C by carbonization of coals, i.e. high-temperature heating without oxygen access. Determination of porosity by acetone was carried out in accordance with GOST 6217-52 Originality. The optimal temperature of thermal pyrolysis 400°C was determined, in which the maximum porosity of the charcoals with a size between 1-2 mm is reached. Findings. Dependence of the porosity of coal from temperature of thermal pyrolysis and degree of grinding is studied. Porosity of coal obtained from wood oak and ash-tree processed at 400°C makes 75.4 and 75.7%, respectively. Porosity of the ash coal in the size between 1-2 mm is closer to the control sample of birch activated coal (BAC). Highlights: - a highly efficient adsorbent from oak and ash woods is obtained; - import-substituting coal adsorbent on the basis of wood; - optimal conditions for obtaining carbonaceous adsorbents were developed.
