Purpose: The study of the influence of psychological characteristics of personality on the level of commitment to the treatment of patients with CAD and arterial hypertension (AH). Material and methods: a survey of 102 patients of both sexes with a diagnosis of CAD, angina pectoris FC II–III and AH of I–III degree. To assess commitment have been applied a questionnaire of MMAS – 8–Item. Determination of the level of psychoemotional status was conducted with the help of hospital scale of anxiety and depression – HADS. To determine the personality type D was used a questionnaire – DS14. Main results: Patients with the presence of distressed personality type D–14 (50 %) were indicators of a lower adherence to treatment, against to individuals without type D – 27 (36.5 %). Personality type D have increased vulnerability to negative consequences, including an increase in the level of clinically significant depression and anxiety, at 28.6 % and 17.9 % of cases, respectively. As well as the presence of mixed anxiety and depression and especially depression, regardless of personality type adversely affects the adherence of patients with CAD and AH, while anxiety without psychological distress may increase the compliance to the basic therapy. Conclusion: So, the personality type D and depression are independent predictors of low adherence, while the combination of psychological distress and 3.4-fold increases the risk of non-compliance long-term therapy in patients with CAD, AH.
