Currently, the possibilities of optimizing the allocated financial resources in the health care system and reducing costs are being considered on the basis of an assessment of the main indicators of the functioning of medical and preventive measures. The article examines the importance of drugs taken by patients receiving hospital treatment (VEN-analysis). According to the results of the VENanalysis, prescribing vital and essential medicines is extremely low, and unreasonable prescribing of excessive amounts and optional drugs for specific patients is quite high.
