ARTICLE ANNOTATION

quote
Discusses the results of the study concerning the ability of multispectral analysis to authentication dried medicinal herbs from Uzbekistan. Before multispectral image acquisition the different medicinal plants (oregano fine-colored grass - herba origani tytthianthi and shepherd's bag - capsella bursa-pastoris) were submitted to different drying conditions in order to increase the variability of the plant database and reproduce the conditions. The drying process experiments were carried out in the laboratory of the Tashkent State Technical University. After drying, cube images were collected with nineteen Light Emitting Diodes (405 to 1050 nm) using the Videometer Lab2 device. The image cubes were processed in order to extract image mean spectra. The results of the partial least square discriminant analysis (PLSDA) after cross-validation performed on spectral data show 100% of good classification whatever the medicinal plant. The PLSDA gave a 100% percent of correct classification whatever the medicinal plant analyzed. Those results demonstrated that multispectral imaging system can authenticate medicinal plants independently of their drying process probably due a certain composition of incoming elements.
