The article discusses the importance and relevance of environmental design, its historical background and current state. Identification of directions, methods and techniques of sustainability and greening of architectural environment based on the analyses of the examples allows you to choose and apply the design and construction methods of formation of ecological living, for both permanent and temporary residence in real practice. And the conducted observations and research can be useful in the educational and pedagogical practice of forming the concepts of green architecture and designing an eco-friendly residential environment in architectural and architectural design education. The goal of environmental design is to protect ecosystems at risk, restore degraded ecosystems, or create a new sustainable ecosystem to meet the needs of nature and society, as well as create a comfortable architecture that contributes to the health and well-being of the population in industrial cities and environmentally unfavorable regions. The article also considers the method of bioclimatic architecture, which focuses on the search for design solutions that provide comfortable conditions at the lowest cost for the setup of engineering and technical systems that consume energy from non-renewable energy sources. The life of a modern city generates a lot of conflicts and thus gives rise to problems, including architectural ones. In the era of global economic, commodity and environmental crises, scientists propose a solution to a number of problems that have arisen through the use of renewable energy sources. This way provides an opportunity to improve the ecology of the environment. The task of modern architects in overcoming the current environmental crisis is to create a special method of environmental design. Given the natural factors that directly affect people's lives, it can be concluded that ecological architecture can really be a way out of the existing and developing problem of environmental pollution and energy scarcity. For more rapid dissemination of environmental architecture technologies, it is necessary to promote it more actively, both among consumers and customers, as well as some tightening of legal requirements for buildings that consume energy from traditional sources.
