In the article, the authors consider the processes and phenomena associated with
backfilling of pits on the territory of the city. In the conditions of intensive development of high-rise
and underground construction in the territories of cities, the development of engineeringgeological processes and phenomena associated with the construction of pits and, subsequently,
backfilling of these structures is increasingly observed. The assessment of engineering and
geological conditions occurs only at the stage of the technical project, when conducting detailed engineering and geological surveys to substantiate the construction project. It should be noted that
underestimation of processes and phenomena related to both geological and climatic, and human
economic activity leads to negative consequences. In this regard, we have set a goal to study the
processes and phenomena associated with backfilling of pits on the territory of Tashkent. The
authors have identified the main sources of formation of processes and phenomena as a result of
backfilling: -loss of strength of backfilling soils during water saturation; -increase of dynamic loads
on the surface of areas with backfill soils. On linear communication structures are formed due to
the combined action of several processes: 1) gravitational compaction of compressible rocks under
the foundations of structures; 2) hydrodynamic compaction during drainage, 3) compaction under
the influence of vibration from the movement of underground transport. Taking into account the
results of all the analyses carried out, the main factors (from the most to the least dangerous) that
affect the subsidence of the earth's surface on the backfill soils are: the location to the
compressibility of the soil layers; soil moisture should be within the limits for sand — 8-12%, large
and light sandy loam soil — 8-12%, heavy loamy soil — 16-23%.
