This paper examines the graduonym types that reflect graduonymic relations in the contents of the English proverbs as their components, moreover, the main peculiarities of graduonymy types existing in proverbs. In contemporary linguistic researches, among lexical-semantic paradigms a new linguistic phenomenon – “graduonymy” appeared in Uzbek linguistics in the end of the twentieth century and took its possession in Modern General Linguistics. Uzbek linguists Graduonymy expresses both lexical-semantic relations of words or phrases and interrelations of any linguistic notions or units. Furthermore, graduonymy possesses a great role in the field of semantics considering its peculiarities as one of the semantic paradigms, which refers to the gradable semantic relations of lexemes and phrasemes.

Mazkur ilmiy maqolada ingliz xalq maqollari tarkibida uchraydigan graduonim turlari va ularning o’ziga xos xususiyatlari batafsil o’rganilgan. Zamonaviy tilshunoslikda leksik-semantik munosabatlarni o’zida aks ettiruvchi paradigmalar (sinonimiya, antonimiya, omonimiya, polisemiya, meronimiya, giponimiya kabi) qatorida yangi lingvistik paradigma o’z o’rniga ega bo’ldi, ushbu paradigma “graduonimiya” deb nomlanib, u XX asrning oxirida o’zbek tilshunosligida ilk bor qo’llanildi. O’zbek tilida graduonimlar ilk bora o’zbek tilshunoslari Begmatov va b.lar (1989), Bozorov (1995), Arifjonova (1996), Djumabaeva (2014, 2016a,b) tomonidan o’rganilgan bo’lib, shundan so’ng ushbu paradigma boshqa tillarda ham tadqiq etildi (Voxidova (2008) nemis tilida; Djumabaeva (2014, 2016a,b) ingliz tilida). Graduonimiya nafaqat so’zlar va frazalar orasidagi leksik-semantik munosabatlarni, balki har qanday lingvistik tushuncha yoki birliklar orasidagi o’zaro munosabatlarni ham ifodalaydi. Shuningdek, graduonimiya hodisasi semanik paradigma sifatida o’z mazmunida leksema va frazemalarning darajalanuvchi semantik aloqalarini aks ettirgani sababli semantika sohasida o’z o’rniga egadir.
