Currently, to improve energy efficiency in most power supply systems implemented
in all industries, a frequency converter-based control system is used. The control of electric drives
through a frequency converter is important for increasing the energy efficiency of production,
expanding the possibilities of mechanization of asynchronous electric motors and their automatic
control processes, and increasing its energy efficiency. However, the use of frequency-controlled
electrical circuits creates high harmonics of the supply voltage, current and magnetic currents,
which leads to additional power losses in its circuit and magnetic circuit. This article presents
analytical materials on the importance of driving electric vehicles with frequency converters, the
results of experimental tests, the negative consequences of higher harmonics and methods to reduce
their impact.
