This article describes methods for predicting the operation of experimental and industrial biogas plants and diagnosing equipment reliability to detect various failures and malfunctions. The sequences of the correct evaluation of the reliability of the biogas plant equipment are given by examining the failures of the elements, as well as the diagnosis of failures in its operation. The conclusions are given in comparison of the total costs for the prevention, detection and elimination of failures and malfunctions when using direct and diagnostic methods for forecasting the technical state of an energy installation based on renewable energy.
