Сув омборлари қурилгандан кейин юқори бъефда лойқа босиш жараёни юзага келади. Натижада ўлик ҳажм лойқага тўлиб, фойдали ҳажмни ҳам лойқа босади. Бу эса сув омборининг самарадорлигини пасайтиради. Бу муаммоларнинг ечимини топиш дунё олимларининг асосий вазифаларидан бири бўлиб келган. Юқори бъефдаги деформацияланиш жараёнини ўрганиш, дала тадқиқот ишлари маълумотига асосланган усуллардан фойдаланиб, лойқа ҳажмини ҳисоблаш масалалари устида олимлар қатор изланишлар олиб боришган. Бугунги кунда сувни бошқариш иншоотларининг юқори бъефида бўладиган гидрологик жараёнларни илм-фаннинг замонавий ютуқларидан фойдаланган ҳолда аниқлаш усулларини такомиллаштириш, улардан бесамар йўқотилаётган сув миқдорини камайтириш чора-тадбирларини ишлаб чиқиш ва уларнинг самарадорлигини ошириш муҳим масалалардан ҳисобланади. Шу жиҳатдан, сув омборларининг эксплуатацион ишончлилигини ошириш ва лойқа босиш жадаллигини пасайтириш ҳамда уларнинг фойдали ҳажмини ҳисоблашнинг такомиллашган усулларини ишлаб чиқиш, бу масалаларни ўрганишда геоахборот технологиялари ёрдамида лойқа босиш ҳолатларини таҳлил қилиш ва уларнинг ишончли ишлашини таъминлашга алоҳида эътибор қаратилмоқда.
