ARTICLE ANNOTATION

quote
Abstract. Introduction. Rapid industrial development and population growth around the world are dramatically increasing the demand for fresh water. According to the latest data, by 2050, the world's demand for fresh water will increase by 130-400%, with only 0.01% of the current fresh water reserves remaining available. Methods and materials. Currently, the most common methods of desalination of salt water are reverse osmosis and electrodialysis, but they require a lot of energy. The most rational solution to reduce the specific energy consumption in the desalination process is the use of solar desalination plants, which are convenient and easy to operate, environmentally friendly and cheap. Taking into account the above, in this study, an experimental study was conducted on the performance of a multi-stage solar desalination plant for fresh water. Results. A prototype of a combined multi-stage solar desalination plant was developed, experimental studies were conducted, and the experimental results were compared with those obtained in a conventional solar desalination plant. The daily amount of fresh water in the conventional and combined plants was 6.06 and 10.37 kg, respectively, and the productivity in the combined plant was 1.72 times higher than that of the conventional plant. Conclusion. The proposed combined solar desalination plant with a useful area of 1 m2 in the summer season in the climatic conditions of the city of Karshi allows obtaining an average of 9 l/day of fresh water and is environmentally friendly, easy to operate and affordable.
