The article substantiates the relevance of developing information-critical competence of higher education students in the conditions of digital transformation and information overload. Based on a comparative-analytical study of works by foreign, post-Soviet and Uzbek scholars, the content of the concepts «competence», «information competence», «critical thinking» and «information-critical competence» has been examined. The author proposes a new definition of information-critical competence and pedagogically substantiates its fivecomponent structure (information-analytical, cognitive-critical, axiological-evaluative, communicativereflexive, creative-productive components). The theoretical conclusions presented in the article can serve as a conceptual basis for further pedagogical research on the development of information-critical competence of higher education students.
