ARTICLE ANNOTATION

quote
In this article, the impact of seismic surface waves on the Sherdor Madrasah and corresponding mitigation methods were numerically modeled using the PLAXIS 3D software package based on the finite element method. Maximum amplitudes of displacements, velocities, and accelerations were determined at selected monitoring points of the building, and the reduction of seismic vibrations affecting the madrasah was evaluated through a comparative analysis with the application of seismic barriers. A seismic barrier model with a thickness of 1 m and a depth of 5 m was developed along the outer perimeter of the foundation. A tire-derived granular material was adopted as the seismic barrier material. The numerical results showed that the application of the seismic barrier significantly reduces the amplitude and intensity of seismic surface waves, confirming the effectiveness of the proposed mitigation approach.
