ARTICLE ANNOTATION

quote
In the context of growing global water scarcity, the application of water-saving technologies in crop cultivation has become an increasingly important issue. This study aimed to determine the optimal regimes of open and under-film drip irrigation using the C-8290 cotton variety under the conditions of weakly saline meadow-alluvial soils in the Bukhara region. Field experiments were conducted during 2024–2025 in three replications and included a total of 15 variants. The study examined pre-irrigation soil moisture under three regimes: 65–70–65%, 70–75–70%, and 75–80–75% of field capacity (FC) across two different agro-backgrounds. Two-year observations demonstrated that under-film drip irrigation reduced water consumption by 280–580 m³/ha compared with the open method, primarily due to reduced moisture losses through evaporation. The highest and most stable yield in the experiment (48.6–49.1 centners per hectare) was recorded on the film-mulched background when soil moisture was maintained at 75–80–75%. The obtained scientific and practical results can be used by agricultural clusters and cotton-growing farms operating in water-scarce regions. Based on the results, the implementation of under-film drip irrigation technology with pre-irrigation soil moisture maintained at 75–80–75% is recommended to conserve water and achieve high economic efficiency.
