ARTICLE ANNOTATION

quote
The article presents the results of comprehensive research on the development of an environmentally friendly technology for enzymatic degumming of raw silk using a neutral protease. It has been shown that the enzymatic method provides selective hydrolysis of sericin with minimal destruction of fibroin, which contributes to the preservation of the fiber’s strength and elasticity. A comparative study of various degumming methods — soap-soda, stearox, and enzymatic — was carried out to evaluate their effect on the physicomechanical and structural properties of silk. It was established that the enzymatic process ensures higher uniformity and intensity of dyeing, as well as better reproducibility of coloristic characteristics due to the gentle action on the fibroin. The obtained results confirm the prospects of implementing enzymatic technologies for preparing silk fibers for dyeing and finishing, providing reduced environmental impact and improved product quality.
