ARTICLE ANNOTATION

quote
This article examines the quality characteristics of yarns used in the production of terry fabrics, the importance of ply-twisting technology, and the properties of new composite yarn obtained by combining cotton and water-soluble synthetic yarns. The study applies a technology of twisting cotton yarn together with water-soluble “Mintval” synthetic yarn. The “Mintval” yarn serves as a temporary reinforcing component and dissolves during the finishing process. Experimental analysis was carried out on yarns twisted at different levels (400, 450, 500, and 550 turns per meter). The yarn samples were tested under laboratory conditions for breaking force, elongation at break, and tenacity. The results showed that increasing the twist level has a positive effect on yarn strength. In particular, the highest mechanical performance was observed at 550 turns per meter. It was found that wrapping cotton fibers with synthetic yarn improves the structural integrity of the yarn. The proposed technology enables the production of high-quality yarn suitable for terry fabric manufacturing.
