More than 50 grasshopper species that feed on plant and non-plant substrates are registered in Uzbekistan. Some 5 their species can cause significant damage to agricultural crops. During last years both a number increase and crop damage are observed on and around crop fields and orchards, on shores of irrigation and drainage canals and other wastelands in Surkhandarya, Kashkadarya, Jizzakh, Sirdarya and Tashkent Viloyats. For development of grasshopper control measures we in 2016-2019 have tested several insecticides (a.i. pyrethroids, imidacloprid and diflubenzuron) that have provided high efficacy (85 to 95%) against these pests.
