DERIVATIONAL CHARACTERISTICS OF ENGLISH BORROWINGS IN THE UZBEK LANGUAGE DURING THE PERIOD OF INDEPENDENCE

This article examines the derivational characteristics of English borrowings that have entered the lexical composition of the Uzbek language during the period of independence. As a result of globalization, the expansion of international relations, the rapid development of information and communication technologies, Internet communication, and the advancement of modern business and mass media, numerous new lexical units are being borrowed from English into Uzbek. The study focuses not only on the adoption of English borrowings as ready-made lexical units but also on their increasing participation in the internal word-formation system of the Uzbek language. In particular, the analysis examines formations such as blogerlik, brokerlik, frilanserlik, marketologlik, and tiktokerlik, in which borrowed stems combine with the Uzbek -lik suffix, as well as units such as kiberxavfsizlik, kiberhujum, kriptobirja, mediaforum, and videodars, in which international components combine with Uzbek bases. The derivational productivity of English borrowings is regarded as an important criterion indicating the degree of their integration into the language system. The results of the study demonstrate that English borrowings not only enrich the lexical composition of modern Uzbek but also expand its word-formation potential.
