This article provides information on avalanches and rockfalls along mountainous roads. It highlights the structural design, types, and application conditions of gallery structures used to protect roads in mountainous areas from natural hazards. Galleries are described as complex constructions with prefabricated and monolithic supports, monolithic reinforced concrete blocks, pile foundations, and metal protective frames against landslides. The article also details arch, cantilever, support, and frame-type galleries, their selection criteria, and their dependence on slope morphology and soil conditions. The role of galleries in protecting roads from avalanches, rockfalls, debris flows, and soil movements, as well as their importance for ensuring stable and uninterrupted traffic flow, is analyzed.
