ARTICLE ANNOTATION

quote
This study analyzes the potential for fuel savings through improving the aerodynamic characteristics of trucks widely used in Uzbekistan. Using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation methods and real road tests, the effectiveness of various aerodynamic modifications was evaluated. Results show that installing an aerodynamic deflector at the front of the cab reduces the drag coefficient from 0.78 to 0.65 (16.7%) and decreases fuel consumption by 8-12% at 80 km/h. Installing side panels and additional aerodynamic elements at the rear of the trailer provides an additional 3-5% fuel savings. A complete aerodynamic package increases total fuel savings to 13-16%. Large-scale implementation of aerodynamic modifications for 50% of Uzbekistan’s truck fleet would save 150-200 million liters of diesel fuel annually and provide economic benefits of 186 billion sums.
