ARTICLE ANNOTATION

quote
Risk and prognosis calculators are digital medical tools that use statistics and algorithms to estimate the likelihood of developing diseases or their complications. Instead of general recommendations, physicians receive patient-specific data, allowing them to select medication dosages or decide whether to initiate intensive therapy immediately. These calculators identify high-risk individuals even before symptoms appear, providing the opportunity to make lifestyle changes or initiate preventative medications. These calculators minimize the subjectivity of physician intuition by relying on mathematical models and the experience of thousands of other patients with similar indicators. The aim of this paper is to analyze widely used digital calculators for assessing cardiovascular disease risk in patients with type 2 diabetes. Their advantages and disadvantages, features, and effectiveness are highlighted. Particular emphasis is placed on the latest generation of such calculators, in particular the BRAVO model, which is multifunctional (in terms of outcome analysis) and is built at the patient level rather than the cohort level.
