ARTICLE ANNOTATION

quote
The article studies the direct participation of the cocoon shell in the process of inanimating the cocoon of the mulberry silkworm and removing moisture from its contents, the study of the process of their preliminary treatment based on the laws of heat engineering, and the correct selection of modes. When dried under the influence of hot air, the main moisture leaves the cocoon, and after drying, the average moisture content of the cocoon drops to 10–12%. The drying kinetics is expressed as a first-order (exponential) process, and the cocoon is taken as an ellipsoid as a geometric shape. On this basis, the distribution of moisture in the cocoon is described by diffusion according to Fick's law. The model in the proposed article allows predicting the moisture content of the cocoon over time. In addition, the structure of the cocoon thread that forms the shell and their linear density (0.18–0.33 tex) can affect the release of moisture and interaction with air during the drying process. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the model parameters (e.g., k, D, R_int, R_ext) using experimental measurements.
