Compressor stations, booster compressor stations, gas injection compressor stations have had and will have a key role in the production and transportation of hydrocarbons. The technological product of these units, natural gas, in most cases has high pressure, high temperature (after compression), and also contains abrasive, acidic components. In addition, in the hydrocarbon industry it is necessary to pay attention to fire safety due to highly flammable and explosive raw materials. The purpose of this study is to estimate the time it takes to release the compression line in emergency situations. The study mainly used existing theoretical knowledge on the thermodynamics of the compression process, gas flow through holes, and the material and heat balance of the line product. To solve the problem, an integrated approach was used from disciplines such as thermodynamics, hydraulics, gas dynamics, etc. As a result of the study, a method for determining the time of emptying a technological unit was developed.
