This article examines the introduction of modern digital technologies, in particular virtual reality (VR) services, into library activities and analyzes their effectiveness. It discusses their role in fostering interest among children, engaging students in science, and, most importantly, transforming libraries into 21st-century educational and cultural centers. Using the experience of the Guangzhou Public Library as an example, the significance of this technology in attracting readers especially the younger generation to science is revealed. The article also highlights the experiences of different countries, analyzes research conducted by specialists, and provides insights into the various applications of VR services, including their educational and enlightening functions, as well as their potential in preserving cultural heritage. VR technology is assessed as an important direction that ensures the harmonious integration of tradition and innovation in libraries, and its relevance for local libraries is substantiated.
