LINGUODIDACTIC FOUNDATIONS OF DEVELOPING LEARNERS’ DICTIONARY USE SKILLS IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE EDUCATION

This article analyzes the linguodidactic foundations for developing skills in using educational dictionaries in English language education and scientifically substantiates their role in shaping students’ lexical and communicative competencies. The aim of the study is to systematize the linguodidactic functions of educational dictionaries, determine the methodological significance of dictionary usage strategies in the educational process, and conduct a comparative assessment of the didactic capabilities of printed and electronic educational dictionaries. The research methodology consisted of methods of systematic and comparative analysis, content analysis, and the synthesis of scientific sources. As a result of the study, the informative, didactic, communicative, cognitive, and strategic functions of educational dictionaries were systematized, the structural components of vocabulary usage skills were clarified, and their linguodidactic significance in the development of lexical competence was substantiated. Additionally, a comparative analysis of the didactic capabilities of printed and electronic educational dictionaries was conducted, proving that educational effectiveness directly depends not on the type of dictionary, but on the level of formation of strategies for its effective use.
