This paper analyzes the issues of organizing and managing pedestrian traffic in populated areas. Three fundamental principles of pedestrian traffic organization are examined based on the level of interaction between pedestrians and vehicles. Regulatory requirements for the design and placement of pedestrian crossings, underpasses, overpasses, sidewalks, and artificial lighting systems are presented. Special attention is given to improving road safety near educational institutions and reducing traffic accidents involving pedestrians through technical traffic management measures.
