ARTICLE ANNOTATION

quote
This article examines the source-study characteristics, classification, and verification issues of oral memories and testimonies. The theoretical foundations of oral history, the distinctions between oral memory and oral testimony, as well as the concepts of individual and collective memory are analyzed. Particular attention is given to the specific features of biographical, thematic, witness, and expert interviews. The study highlights the subjective nature of oral sources and their potential to reflect historical reality through personal experiences and social memory. Furthermore, the article discusses mechanisms for ensuring the reliability of oral sources through external, internal, and cross-verification methods. The role of digital humanities and artificial intelligence technologies in the collection, preservation, processing, and analysis of oral history archives is also explored. Using the example of the «Oral History» project implemented in cooperation with the National Library of Uzbekistan, the article highlights issues related to the preservation of national historical memory and the enrichment of digital archival resources.
