This article presents a comparative analysis of the theoretical foundations, grammatical functions, and methodological interpretations of the concept of particles (ḥarf), which constitute one of the core categories in Arabic grammar. The research is based on two authoritative sources: Al-Jumal fī an-Naḥw by Abd al-Qāhir al-Jurjānī and Jāmiʿ ad-Durūs al-ʿArabiyya by Mustafa al-Ghalāyinī. These works represent different historical stages of Arabic grammatical thought and serve as primary academic references for examining the development of the particle category. The study focuses on the role of particles within the theory of ʿāmil (governing elements) and analyzes their controlling function in the formation of the iʿrāb system using concrete grammatical evidence. Furthermore, the article compares al-Jurjānī’s analytical and theory-oriented methodology with al-Ghalāyinī’s didactic and practice-based approach, identifying their common principles and methodological differences. Based on this comparative analysis, pedagogical conclusions are formulated to improve the teaching of particles in contemporary Arabic language education.
